Windows laptops need regular restarts to apply security updates and clear out stuck background processes.
- Do not just close the lid! Closing the lid puts the machine to sleep; it does not refresh it.
- At least once a week, go to the Start Menu, click the Power icon, and select Restart.
- To check manually: Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates.
