Overview

The Teacher Hall Pass View in Infinite Campus allows teachers to issue, manage, and review hall passes for students in their classes. This tool ensures accurate tracking of student movement while enforcing any location or group restrictions.

When opened, the tool displays all periods in your schedule and automatically defaults to the current period in session.

Hall Pass Indicators

When a student has an active hall pass:

  • Green: More than 1 minute remaining

  • Yellow: Less than 1 minute remaining

  • Red: Pass time expired (still active until ended manually)

  • Pass Expired: Displays when no time remains

⚠️ Passes do not automatically end when time runs out. A teacher or administrator must manually end the pass.

If a student belongs to a restricted group, any other students in that group will show a red “R” and cannot be issued a pass until the active pass ends.

Issuing a Hall Pass

  1. Select the period the pass will be issued during.

  2. Find the student’s name (students are listed alphabetically).

  3. Click the Location button where the student is going.

  4. The pass will start immediately and remain active until:

    • Time expires and the pass is ended manually, or

    • The End Pass button is clicked.

Ending a Hall Pass

You can end a hall pass in two ways:

Option 1 – End Pass

  • Ends the pass immediately when clicked.

Option 2 – End Pass on Time

  • Ends the pass immediately, but records the time as if it naturally expired.

Examples:

  • Example 1: Pass issued at 1:30 PM for 5 minutes.

    • If you click End Pass on Time at 2:00 PM, the system records it as ending at 1:35 PM.

  • Example 2: Pass issued at 1:30 PM for 5 minutes.

    • If you click End Pass on Time at 1:31 PM, it still records as ending at 1:35 PM.

Adding Time or Comments

Teachers can add more time or notes to an active pass.

  1. Click Options next to the student’s pass.

  2. Choose Edit.

  3. In the Pass Details pop-up:

    • Enter a comment (max 100 characters).

    • Add time (in minutes) to the Add Time field.

  4. Click Save.

Comments are also visible to staff in the Hall Monitor Grid.

Key Reminders

  • Passes stay active until ended manually.

  • Restricted group rules prevent multiple passes at once.

  • Comments help other staff understand context in real time.

  • Use End Pass on Time to keep accurate time records when ending later.

✅ Recommended Use:
Teachers should end passes promptly upon a student’s return and use comments for any special circumstances (e.g., restroom, nurse, office).
